Moving In and Making a Home

Well, it has been sometime since I last wrote as we have been moving into our new house in Baranduda. We are now all unpacked and pretty well settled in. All apart from the items that have gone missing from the truck - yes I am also asking how they managed to misplace some of our beloved items but you can ask all of the 'males' that moved us from Brisbane to Albury.

All of that aside, we are really happy w/ our house and after the pictures have been hung on the walls this weekend there will be some photos uploaded - stay tuned. The boys are loving to atmosphere of the backyard as we look out onto some beautiful mountain ranges and it is just beautiful to sit and enjoy the scenery (bar the flies - awful awful sticky flies).

The weather has been pretty hot down here (high 30's and low 40's) but the heat is so different from that in Brisbane, plus we also have ducted air-conditioning throughout our house. :) We have enjoyed much watch play in the backyard w/ no water restrictions lol.

Vaughn - is really enjoying his new career change and it is nice to see him so motivated and happy to go to work everyday. He has made some very nice mates which in turn will become 'our' mates whilst we are posted w/ them all. Vaughn's quote at the moment is a wise and true thought - If you love your work then you never have to work a day in your life.

Benjamin - is Benjamin, what more can I say? He is growing into such a wonderful little boy and really establishing himself in the family. He never forgets to tell me that I am 'beautiful' and 'his darling'. He reminds me if I happen to fixing something 'Don't hurt yourself mummy' and if I am cooking to 'hurry up, I am soooo hungry'. And as he climbs into his bed he proceeds to tell me 'My bed is so comfortable mum, do you want to sleep here too?' He is so sweet, and full of love, energy and charisma. He talks everyday about his 'cousits Lawlaw, Biby, Ella and What his name again? (Noah)' The girls (Lauren and Olivia) are always either at dancing or school, no matter what time of day or night, and he shows my some dancing moves that the girls taught to him, a rather uncordinated dancer but a dancer non the less. :)

Jackson - is adventurous and has no fear. He is two days off turning 8 months old and he his trying to walk and climb, just like his big brother. He follows Ben everywhere, although he is not always welcomed into Ben's room because he pulls apart Ben's train tracks. He loves the bathroom, he throws many toys from the toyroom into the bathtub and then wonderes why is can't get them back! He then pulls down all of the towels onto the floor. If I do feel that I need 20 minutes of peace from Jackson, I simply put on a load of washing and he will stand at the front loading washing machine and watch it go round and round for the 20 minute cycle, hehehe. Too cute.

Melissa - I am slowly branching out and finding ways of meeting some other mothers and making some friends down here. I have a neighbour across the road w/ a little boy the same age as Ben, and I went for a coffee with a friend yesterday. It was nice to chat about things that men don't like to chat about, lol. I am also looking at volunteering an hour or two a week to a charity called 'pac-a-picnic' who supply new army families w/ a hamper as they move into the area. The support that they have given me has inspired me to help and offer that to someone else who is going to be where I was when we moved here and didn't know anyone. I have enjoyed nesting into our new house and making it a home, and I will post some photos soon.

Well we miss you all,
M x x

  2. Glad you are settling in okay. Can't be easy having moved such a long way away. Damn removalists...how do they manage to lose things.
